Last week, school was only in regular session for two days. Between retreat days, the raccoon power outage, and the PSAT, students had lots of opportunities for rest and relaxation. On Wednesday, a raccoon caused the school to lose power, and in the words of Dr. Menno “spontaneously combusting.” The racoon’s demise cancelled school and sent all the students who had already arrived to the building back home.
Nico Licari ‘28 said he spent his day off “going to KCTC, getting a sushi burrito at Jaku, and watching nature documentaries.” Seniors had Tuesday off because of retreat day for underclassmen (their Corex retreat was in the summer), and also had Friday off due to the PSAT with Sachiel Fickel ‘27 saying, “ I spent some time catching up on homework, and am looking forward to finally finishing up my college apps on Friday.” Lyla Malloy ‘27 told us she spent her free day “going out to lunch at Brunch House with friends.”
This week, students have Thursday and Friday off school for teacher professional development conferencing, and are spending their free time on a variety of activities. Anna Weissenberger ‘27 is using her weekend to tour four colleges and go see The Notebook on Broadway play. Band senior night is during the football game Friday, where CC is playing Holland Christian.
