If you’ve taken an AP History class, you most definitely know Mr. Schrems. You probably know of his lack of hair as well. However, that has now changed with his brand new do! His lush ginger locks have shocked the school, and left students wondering what caused him to leave behind his baldheadedness? Did the jokes get to him or was there a deeper reason? 

Mr. Schrems began losing follicles of hair in his mid-twenties and never was able to find a solution to regain his natural hair. This never bothered him until his AP US and Comparative Government class consistently made fun of his shiny head and he felt he needed a change, so he opted for a toupé. He says he was influenced by “one of [his] older brothers, whom are all chrome-domed. He gave it a try and it seemed to work for him.” Seeing that the toupé was a success for his brother, he decided to get a ginger one to celebrate his Irish heritage. He also states that “the cool Irish people I know are ginger.” 

Keeping up with hair after not having any for quite some time can be difficult for some people, but not for Mr. Schrems. He’s been styling his hair with ease and wearing new styles everyday, such as a braid or a high ponytail! He says the only time he has trouble with it is “after [he] goes dancing at the disco. The sweat challenges the hold of the glue.” With all that activity, the reapplication process is a little tricky. He said, “the glue is a bit globby. You have to make sure to spread it evenly otherwise you get a rash.” However, Mr. Schrems has ultimately become an expert at taking care of his mane.
