Gen-Z “Grohs” Up

After graduating from Catholic Central in 2021, Gabe Groh has made a triumphant return to campus as the choir accompanist.

Once a member of Men’s Choir, Mr. Groh has since evolved to come back to accompany the school choirs and jam with them during Mass alongside his former teacher, Deacon Rybicki. His excitement to be back is palpable in his energetic piano playing both in every CC choir class and at weekly masses at St. Andrews.

As a student, Mr. Groh’s passion for liturgical music was evident. “I think the thing that surprised me most was how much he really wanted to play for Mass,” Deacon said. “He played too fast at first–don’t write that down.” However, he also believes Mr. Groh has grown far past his CC beginnings, proclaiming his talent as secondary only to his urge to learn. Recently, Mr. Groh has begun directing the worship, music and liturgy at local parishes such as St. Alphonsus and Blessed Sacrament.
