As the new school year starts, we don’t only welcome new students, we also get the ability to welcome new staff members to the community. The STEAM building has accepted a new science teacher, Mr. Wiebe, into the halls. 

He has spent several years teaching in places like Venezuela, Caracas, Florida, Canada and New Hampshire. 

Wiebe says that currently “Catholic schools are doing a better job helping the young people both intellectually and spiritually.” He believes that Catholic Central has a “deep history and foundation,” which was another reason he decided to join the community.

Wiebe said he decided to follow this career path because he believes that “part of what God put me here to do was to be a guide and help the young people.” 

Outside of school, Wiebe and his wife recently adopted a Golden Retriever puppy named Juniper. His favorite books are currently 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez and Caramelo by Sandra Cisneros because “they both have very different but very interesting things to say about what it means to be human.” Wiebe’s deathbed meal would be “Chicken curry, with green curry paste, coconut milk, with a hint of mango, cilantro, and red peppers… but also some Biria tacos or El pastor.”
