The swim team is diving into the waters of a new season. With new freshmen adding some energy and the seniors taking charge, this team is bringing the boom this season. They are working to achieve their goal of competing in the Conference Championship with tough, strength-building practices and support from teammates.
The girls swim team has been pushing themselves beyond their limits, both individually and collectively. Kathleen Sullivan ’26 said, “the team qualified for the 400 Freestyle relay for states this season.” This event is different from others because it requires the swimmer to maintain both speed and endurance for the entire 400 meters. Kathleen added, “You have to push through the pain. Doing so builds up your strength, which ultimately helps you become a faster and more resilient swimmer.”
To help these girls get through extreme meets and exhausting practices, they have built a strong foundation of friendship. Aileny Tenorio ‘26 said, “Everyone creates a bond with each other, which allows new freshmen and other grade levels to make connections and friendships as they enter high school.” To be able to lean on each other and know you have support when you get out of the water is a major part of success. It also comes into play when at school knowing you have someone to talk to at lunch or say hello to in the halls.
As they set their sights on the Conference Championship, the bonds of friendship and mutual support that define this team is their greatest strength. With continued hard work and camaraderie, they are bound to make waves and achieve their goals both in and out of the pool. Take the time to watch a meet and support this team in their effort!
