CC is full of unique and welcoming clubs. With everything from the Model United Nations Club to the Pickleball Club, there is a club for everyone at CC. Below is a list of clubs that you can join.
Students for Life
The Students for Life Club is run by Mrs. Lambert. Kathleen Sullivan is the president and Claire Kaufman is the vice president. The Students for Life Club spreads the importance of being pro-life, does service projects to support pro-life organizations and they prepare for the March for Life in Washington DC and Lansing, Michigan. You can join by contacting kathleensullivan@dogrschools.org, joining Focus Time or going to the meetings in Lambert’s room on P week Thursday mornings at 7:20 am.
Drama Club
The Drama Club is run by Lyndsey Bandlow and Mr. Harvey. The Drama Club is where you can do fun improv and other games. It’s open to all students even if you aren’t in a play and haven’t been in one before. You can join by showing up to their Focus Time.
Women Supporting Women Club
The Women Supporting Women Club is run by Annie Wittkowski, Gigi Licari, Celia Bersche and Mrs. Aldrich. The club aims to create a positive and supportive community for women where they can focus on relationships with themselves and each other. You can join by joining their Focus Time.
Chess Club
The Chess Club is run by Rowan Kozminski and Mrs. Kozminski. This club is for casual chess players, hardcore chess fans or people who want to learn how to play. You can join by joining their Focus Time.
The Enthusiast Club
The Enthusiast Club is run by Grant Hillary, Colin Carrier and Mrs. Swiatek. In this club, students give 5-10 minute presentations about things they like but they don’t have the time or people to talk about it. You can join by signing up for their Focus Time.
Science Club
The Science Club is run by Kylie Emerson and Taylor Shipper. The staff sponsor is Ms. Wila. This club plays fun science related games and experiments. You can join by signing up for a Focus Time.
Retro Video Game Club
The Retro Video Game Club is run by Eli Jarema, Delan Hoyer-Corbett and Mr. Eek. This club plays video games and lets you hang out with friends at the end of the day. You can join by signing up for the weekly Thursday focus time.
Latino Student Union
This club was started in 2023 by three seniors and the staff sponsor is Mrs. Beck (Pablo). The LSU is dedicated to celebrating Latino culture and teaching others about it. You can join by signing up for one of their Focus Times.
Pickleball Club
The Pickleball Club was founded by Arabella Sassano and the sponsors are Mrs. Stickler and Ms. Holland. The club is a fun place to play pickleball with friends. You can pick up the sport easily and the club is available to all skill levels. Paddles and balls are provided. You can join the club by signing up for the focus time. The club meets outside or in the gym depending on the weather.
Cougars for a Cause
Cougars For a Cause was started by Mirabelle Boivin and the staff sponsor is Mrs. Blair. Each month, Cougars For a Cause focuses on helping one charity or nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids. Their activities include: care packages, community clean up and reaching out to elderly communities during the holidays. You can join by contacting Blair or by signing up for the focus times that happen once a month.
Black Student Union
The staff sponsors for this club are Mrs. Meerman and Coach Pearl. The BSU focuses on fostering a supportive community for Black students. The BSU advocates for cultural awareness and inclusivity. They organize events, discussions and activities that educate peers about Black history, culture and issues. You can join by contacting Meerman or signing up for the focus times.
Bass Fishing Club
This club was started by Jonah Gregory and is sponsored by Mr. Lefere. The Bass Fishing Club goes to bass fishing tournaments and are trying to get their name out on to the Michigan bass fishing scene. They encourage everyone to join and participate. You can join by talking to Jonah Gregory or Lefere.
Model United Nations
This club was started in 2005 and the current student leaders are Kate McNamara and Rowan Kozminski. The current staff sponsor is Mr. Schrems. The Model United Nations club practices and participates in Model UN Conferences. You can join by signing up for their Focus Time.
