Twin-Maxxing

If you think you’re seeing double in the halls this year, it might be due to so many twins that attended CC. This year, 11 sets of twins are enrolled at CC. That includes at least four sets of identical twins and seven pairs just in the freshman class alone.

Vivi Rivera-Palma and her brother Rod Rivera-Palma (both class of ‘30) are fraternal twins, meaning they do not share identical genes. Vivi was born just two minutes before her brother, making her the oldest. Since they do not look exactly alike, most people do not even know they are related.

“I think the most common mistake people make is not realizing we’re twins since we’re not identical,” Vivi said. “I often get the question, what grade are you in? And people who know my brother think he’s the older of us two.”

Rod says they do not really have huge mix ups at school. When asked about twin telepathy, the myth that twins can read each other’s minds, Rod says, “I don’t think twin telepathy is real.”

Still, both siblings think it is awesome to have so many twins around them. Vivi added “Honestly, no, I never could have expected there to be so many twins,” continuing, “I think it’s a crazy coincidence though.”

Another pair of twins in the freshman class are Kali and Kendyl Lamoreaux ‘30. They look much more alike. In fact, they used their matching looks to pull a prank when they were in elementary school. “When we switched classes in 2nd grade and got kicked out of school for the day,” Kendyl said.

Kendyl is the older twin by just one single minute. When asked what is the most annoying myth or question people constantly ask, Kali says people constantly ask them, “Are you guys twins?” Meanwhile, Kendyl says she finds it annoying when people assume they share the exact same brain. “That we like and think about the same things,” Kendyl explained.

Still the Lamoreaux twins think that going to school with so many other twins is awesome. Kali said, “I didn’t expect to have this many and it’s so cool because I never see this many twins in one environment.”

In fact the Lamoreaux and Rivera Palma twins aren’t the only ones in the Catholic Central. There are a lot more in their grade, as well as other grades. Here’s a full list of our twins:
