Cougar Volleyball on the Rise

By Dale Gant ’26

Fall time at Catholic Central is a very competitive time when it comes to sports. When it comes down to it, everyone talks about the football team or the soccer team and even our woman’s golf team. There is one sports team this year that absolutely cannot be ignored as they are dominating this season—women’s volleyball.

The Cougars move into the month of October holding a phenomenal 26-8-1 record on the season, amounting to some impressive wins throughout the season. Cara Wolf ’26 states her favorite moment of the season was when they beat their rival Forrest Hills’ Northern in 3 sets for the first time. This victory brought the crowd to its feet and set the tone for the rest of the year

When it comes to this team, everyone credits their hard work, relentless energy and willingness to fight through adversity. One thing that should definitely be credited to these ladies success is their unity as a team. Not only do these girls come together to win games on the court, they are like a tight nit family off of it as well. Middle Riley Lyons ’27 states her favorite moment thus far was having a huge dance party before their first home game. She recalls it bringing the team together.

Be ready to hear more about Cougar volleyball this year as they continue their winning streak. They are looking to finish out their season strong with 11 more games in the regular season before heading into the playoffs. Good luck to the Cougars on October 7th as they face off against a tough East Grand Rapids team at home.
