Wrestlers Pin Down Senior Feelings

For any athlete, knowing their last high school performance is coming to an end will always be somewhat difficult. For Ayden Ringler (‘26), Casey Shelton (‘26), and Dale Gant (‘26), they all described having their last CC season as a, “bittersweet feeling.” Ringler explains that he, “doesn’t want it to come to an end.” We have appreciated his commitment to CC wrestling. Ringler was in the semi-finals his sophomore year and took 5th place his junior year. Explaining that he has been wrestling since he was four years old, he says, “Wrestling has improved my life drastically.” Ringler is committed to Adrian College next year for wrestling.

For the wrestling end coming up for Shelton, he explains, “I’m glad I had the opportunity to wrestle here, but sad it’s coming to an end.” Shelton has had injuries through his seasons that have affected his success, and says that the highlight of his senior season has been not getting hurt this season. Shelton says his biggest goal this season is, “…I want to accomplish this season is placing at state. Last year I had a pretty good chance of accomplishing that goal, but unfortunately my season was cut short due to an injury.” We wish Shelton the best in his possible college career for wrestling. He says wrestling in college is definitely an option, however he has no specifics yet.

Gant reads his feelings as, “It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing it is coming to an end.” Gant has had an extremely successful wrestling career by beating multiple ranked athletes in the state. He says his goal this season is, “Winning my 4th state title and becoming the first [person to accomplish it] in CC history.”  Although he has been wrestling for 12 years, Gant’s wrestling career since freshman year has improved because he has, “gotten smarter, faster, and a smarter wrestler.” Gant is committed to Michigan State University for wrestling.
